Lindsay Lohan was arrested in New York this morning after a pedestrian claimed she hit him and then drove off.

The injured pedestrian, a chef, told the New York Daily News the Porsche-driving starlet was “slurring” her words and “smelled like alcohol.”

“They acted like I was nothing,” chef, Jose Rodriguez, told the newspaper.

“That no one could touch her because she was rich and powerful.”

The actress has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident and causing injury, according to the Associated Press.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said police don’t think Lohan, who is on probation, was intoxicated, but she was not breathalyzed.

The incident took place at 12.30 a.m. outside a Manhattan nightclub, ABC News reports, as Lohan was driving through a crowded alleyway to park her Porsche.

She allegedly knocked into Rodriguez, who was treated in hospital for an injury to his knee. Police described it as a "low-speed crash," according to ABC.

Rodriguez told the New York Daily News that after he was hit, Lohan got out of her Porshe and he asked her: ‘Why did you do that?"

“She said, ‘You have to get out of the way.’ She told me I have to move.”

Rodriguez said one of the men in the car moved Lohan from the driver’s seat into the back and then told him there was “no problem”.

“They drove off, like it didn’t matter.”

Rodriguez claimed he did not know it was Lohan until witnesses told him.

According to gossip website TMZ, "Lindsay is telling friends she had no idea she hit anybody and it wasn't until she came out and got arrested that she knew anything was going on."

TMZ's sources claim that Lohan thinks she might have been set up.

Lohan is currently on probation after taking a necklace from a jewelry store last year, and according to the AP, she faces being sent to jail if she's judged to have violated her probation by breaking the law.

She has a history of traffic accidents, including several arrests for drunk driving and a collision with a truck in June.
