The most interesting man in the world to host Obama fundraiser

GlobalPost

Mosquitos don't bite him out of pure respect. Big foot has a picture of him. He bowls overhand. He is, the most interesting man in the world. He also happens to be a big President Obama supporter.

Jonathan Goldsmith, the actor behind "the most interesting man in the world" character, will be hosting a fundraising event tonight to support the re-election campaign of President Obama.

Not familiar with Goldsmith's work? Here is all you need to know:

According to the LA Times, tickets for the event in Vermont start at $20 and run up to $500. Vermont Speaker of the House Shap Smith will also attend.

While Beyonce and Jay-Z might up Obama's cool factor, Goldsmith may come with even more clout. According to ABC, Obama's Facebook fans are equally fond of Dos Equis. About 3 percent of all of Obama's fans at the time, around 24,000 of them, also liked the beer brand on Facebook.

But really who wouldn't like support from a man who has been known to cure narcolepsy, just by walking into a room, or can speak French, in Russian. The man has even won trophies for his game face alone.

To make it clear, Dos Equis sent out a statement saying that Goldsmith's political leanings were all his own and do not represent the Dos Equis brand. But that did not stop some angry fans from hitting Facebook to share their feelings.

Ad Age noted one fan who wrote on the brand's page, "Since you are supporting Obama you just lost a customer." Another fan added, "Mexican beer for Obama…………bye-bye Dos Equis."

One beer company executive not affiliated with the brand told Ad Age said it's "not smart business sense for any brand or company to be in the middle of a political debate. People are going to associate him with the character he plays and that comes with a high degree of risk and I'm sure it's not making the Heineken people happy."
