Justin Bieber hockey contract on the table in Bakersfield (VIDEO)

Obviously, Bakersfield Condors coach Matt O’Dette is confused.

Someone needs to clarify that although Justin Bieber can really generate the hits, it has nothing to do with hockey.

O’Dette and the Condors of the ECHL have offered the 18-year-old pop singer a professional hockey contract.

“Very rarely do you see this combination of skill and toughness,” O’Dette said in a press release.

“We share a common Canadian heritage since we both hail from Ontario. I’ve scouted some video of him online skating with my hometown team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and I think he could provide some elusive speed up front for us.”

Before anyone panics, the Condors are no strangers to self-promotion.

Last year, they offered free admission to anyone with a clean drug test on “Charlie Sheen Night.”

Tiger Blood slushes were 2-for-1 that night.

But, truth be told, Bieber can actually skate.

He played some pick-up hockey with the Leafs during a practice, proving he’s actually played a little in his youth.

Bieber, on tour in Europe, was raised near Toronto in Stratford, Ontario.

Judging by video of the encounter, however, skating backwards isn’t his thing.
