Michael Clarke Duncan, ‘Green Mile’ star, dies aged 54

Michael Clarke Duncan, the hulking death row inmate in “The Green Mile,” died today. He was 54.

Duncan was being treated for a heart attack he suffered two months ago, the Associated Press reported, citing a statement released on behalf of Duncan’s fiancée, Reverend Omarosa Manigault.

The actor “never fully recovered” from the July 13 myocardial infarction, E! News reported.

"Manigault is grateful for all of your prayers and asks for privacy at this time," the statement said.

Duncan, who stood 6-foot-5 and weighed about 315 pounds, was nominated for an Oscar and Golden Globe for his performance in Frank Darabont’s “The Green Mile,” which also starred Tom Hanks.

Celebrity gossip website TMZ reported Duncan started out in Hollywood as a security guard for the stars, including Will Smith, the rapper Notorious B.I.G., Martin Lawrence, Jamie Foxx and LL Cool J. 

Duncan's other movie credits include “Armageddon” and "Sin City" with Bruce Willis.

He also appeared in several TV series, including “Bones,” “Chuck,” and “Two and a Half Men,” the Los Angeles Times reported.
