Black CNN camerawoman at RNC had food thrown at her by GOP attendees, witnesses say

Two GOP attendees at the Republican National Convention allegedly made racist remarks to a CNN employee. Maybe they were just jealous of all the attention Todd "legitimate rape" Akin was getting.

On Tuesday evening, reporter David Shuster posted on Twitter: "GOP attendee ejected for throwing nuts at African American CNN camera woman + saying 'This is how we feed animals.'"

While that might sound like something too outrageous to be true, CNN later confirmed that Shuster's account was in fact accurate, Talking Points Memo reported.

CNN later reported multiple witnesses observed the exchange and the two were immediately removed by RNC security and police.

In a written, official statement to TPM, CNN was vague about specifics: “CNN can confirm there was an incident directed at an employee inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum earlier this afternoon. CNN worked with convention officials to address this matter and will have no further comment.” It is still not known who the food-thrower is, and RNC officials would not return TPM's requests for comment.

As POLITICO noted, the alleged incident is terrible publicity for the Republican party. Romney currently has 0 percent of the black vote in the upcoming presidential election, Politico reported, according to a recent poll by NBC and the Wall Street Journal.
