Linda Sirois, a northern Maine woman whose daughter could not get pregnant owing to a heart condition, has given birth to her own grandson.

According to the Portland Press Herald, Sirois, 49, of Madawska, gave birth to 7-pound, 14-ounce Madden Hebert on Aug. 13 for her daughter, Angel.

Angel Hebert, 25, of Presque Isle, said her mother had offered for years to become a gestational surrogate if a doctor said she herself shouldn’t become pregnant.

After being given that advice last summer, she said, "I'm like, 'So, you know that offer you've been offering? Is that offer still on the table?'"

After being rejected by several fertility clinics, Sirois said she found one in Lexington, Massachusetts — the Reproductive Science Center — that agreed.

Sirois said she became pregnant as soon as her daughter's egg, fertilized with Brian Hebert's sperm, was implanted.

According to WGAN News Radio, Madden Hebert was delivered by C-section at the Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle.

A week after the birth, Hebert said the baby was "eating like a champ and he doesn’t fuss too much."

Sirois, who has four children, including twins — with  the youngest of them in college — said she thought the latest pregnancy might have been her easiest.
