Frank Gehry designs new Facebook campus

Award-winning architect Frank Gehry has been commissioned to design a fancy new campus for Facebook.

"Frank was the perfect architect," Facebook spokesman Slater Tow said, Mercury News reported. Gehry is best known for designing the Guggenheim Museum in Balboa, Spain and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles.

The design, which Facebook unveiled on Friday, shows off a long, one-story, warehouse like building.

According to Everett Katigbak, Facebook's Environmental Design Manager:

Just like we do now, everyone will sit out in the open with desks that can be quickly shuffled around as teams form and break apart around projects.  There will be cafes and lots of micro-kitchens with snacks so that you never have to go hungry.  And we’ll fill the building with break-away spaces with couches and whiteboards to make getting away from your desk easy. 

Not everyone's a fan, though. According to Gizmodo, "Asking Gehry to design their latest building is the classic no-taste-masked-as-taste, socially accepted anti-establishment move."

And then there's the fact that the social network's share price has been steadily falling. Yesterday, NBC News reported that Peter Thiel, an early Facebook investor sold $400 million worth of the company stock. Experts claim that Facebook is in a crisis.

“The company needs to make the investment community comfortable that it has people at the top that are serious and determined to make profits,” said Larry Chiagouris, a marketing profession at Pace University's Lubin School of Business, NBC News reported.
