Prince Harry photos prompt Buckingham Palace to file a privacy complaint

Prince Harry's naked Las Vegas photos have prompted Buckingham palace to contact the UK's Press Complaints Commission (PCC). 

St James's Palace, where the Household Office of Prince William and Prince Harry is based, confirmed Wednesday that Harry is in fact in the photos, BBC News reported.

The Palace got in touch with the PCC Wednesday over concerns that the 27-year-old royal's privacy was being intruded upon.

While US-based websites such as TMZ have published the photos, no British newspapers have done so yet.

However, the Sun recreated the photo for its cover with the headline "Harry Grabs the Crown Jewels," ITV News reported. 

Some have argued that the Leveson Inquiry has silenced British news outlets.

"The problem is in this post-Leveson era where newspapers are simply terrified of their own shadow, they daren’t do things that most of the country, if they saw it in the newspaper, would think ‘that’s a bit of a laugh.' There would be no harm done and they would not think any worse of either the paper or of Prince Harry," former News of the World executive editor Neil Wallis told the National Turk. 

But the head of industry group the Society of Editors, Bob Satchwell, said that the papers' editors were just following the Code of Practice, which makes it "unacceptable to photograph individuals in private places without their consent," NBC News reported. 

The Prince, who is back in the UK after his Vegas vacation, is "expected to receive a dressing down" when he returns to his army base in Suffolk, the Times of India reported.
