Gangnam Style translating into views, tributes, offers

At first blush, you might think Kim Jong Un and Lady Gaga have spawned a love child.

Ricky Gervais and Ellen DeGeneres are godparents; LMFAO performed at the ceremony.

The baby looks something like Mr. Chow from "The Hangover."

But Psy's "Gangnam Style" is so much more than that.

Roughly translated, it means, "Girls, your big brother is Gangnam Style."

See, doesn't that clear things up?

It's also 3:45 of pure K-pop bliss with 30 seconds of bonus footage, director's commentary and deleted scenes — the whole expanded Blu-Ray DVD in one package.

It's sweeping dance floors since being released in July.

The video has more than 46 million YouTube views a little over a month after it was uploaded.

It has celebrity admirers.

The South Korean rapper-entertainer-reality show celebrity has a bona fide hit on his hands and a meeting with Justin Bieber's manager Scooter Braun to boot.

But what does it all mean?

It's a love story.

A love story between a man, woman, a cup of coffee, cowboys, horses and hot tubs in the ritzy Gangnam district of Seoul, South Korea.

Quite possibly the Yakuza appears in a sauna …

It's American culture viewed through the lens of South Korean society, and everyone is eating it up.

It's infectious and the product of artist Psy, or 34-year-old Jae-Sang Park.

"Gangnam means, it's like Beverly Hills of Korea," Psy told ABC News. "But the guy doesn't look like Beverly Hills. Dance doesn't look like Beverly Hills. … And the situation in music video doesn't look like Beverly Hills. But he keeps saying I'm Beverly Hills style. So that's the point. It's sort of a twist."

Braun sees the twist and the humor, and has reportedly met with Psy.

They talked about collaborations or representation in the US, with Braun suggesting a US version of the album featuring Gangnam Style.

It's also the Korean pop (K-pop) music breakthrough many have predicted was imminent.

Psy was scheduled to remain in the US for 10 days, the Los Angeles Times reported, and was spotted Monday night at a Los Angeles Dodgers baseball game.
