Woman killed parasailing, slips from harness and plummets into Florida ocean

Kathleen Miskell, 28, who was on vacation with her husband, died when her harness broke and she plunged "face first" into the ocean off Pompano Beach, in Florida, authorities said.

The Sun Sentinel reported the couple was strapped together in tandem 200ft above the Atlantic Ocean on Wednesday afternoon when Kathleen slipped from her harness.

Her husband, Stephen, 31, watched in horror as the drama unfolded. He was reeled into the boat, suffering shock.

Kathleen was found face down in the water and was pulled into the parasailing boat where CPR was performed, but she died.

CBS Miami interviewed Pompano Beach spokeswoman, Sandra King, who said Kathleen was in the air when her harness broke and she plunged 150-200 feet into the water. 

Mail Online said the couple had been married for almost three years and lived in Manchester, Connecticut. Irish-born Stephen owns a tiling company and his wife worked in the local school community. 

The company operating the leisure activity, Wave Blast Water Sports, which operates out of the Sands Hotel, was not available for comment, media reported.
