Yo-yo in space with astronaut Don Pettit (VIDEO)
A ‘Blue Marble’ image of the Earth taken from the VIIRS instrument aboard NASA’s most recently launched Earth-observing satellite – Suomi NPP. This composite image uses a number of swaths of the Earth’s surface taken on January 4, 2012.
In this video, endearing NASA astronaut Don Petti teaches physics, offers life lessons, and shows off his yo-yo skills in microgravity.
Here's some advice from Mr. Pettit:
"It's good to understand the physics of your recreational activity."
But why?
"You'll be able to have some delightful conservations, you can impress people by talking about the physics of your yo-yo."
That's great advice Mr. Pettit.
"And if you're a guy just think, you can impress the galls by talking about the physics of how your yo-yo works. Now of course, there are gonna to be a class of gals that won't be interested in that. You won't impress them. But then, those are the kind you don't want to be around."
And of course, says Mr. Pettit, if you’re a gal, the guys will be impressed, too.
