Mexico violence: 2 men hung from bridge in Monterrey, shot dead

GUADALAJARA, Mexico — Gunmen hung two men by their hands from a pedestrian bridge in northern Mexico and then executed them in front of terrified motorists, the Associated Press reported.
The incident happened shortly before 2:30pm on Thursday in Monterrey, the capital of Nuevo Leon state, which is considered the territory of the hyper-violent Zetas drug cartel.
The victims were aged in their early 20s and early 30s, Milenio reported.
A card containing a message had been left on one of the bodies.
Mexico, which is struggling to contain drug-related violence, has seen a wave of deadly attacks across the central and northern parts of the country this week.
On Thursday, the bodies of 14 men were found stuffed in a Mercedes-Benz van in the central state of San Luis Potosi. They had been kidnapped from the northern state of Coahuila the day before.
Hours after the gruesome discovery, soldiers and gunmen clashed in San Luis Potosi city, leaving three assailants dead, the AP said, citing a statement from the army.
On Wednesday night, gunmen killed seven men drinking in a sports field in the northern state of Sinaloa.
The following night, assailants threw a grenade at the police academy in Guadalajara, the capital of the central west state of Jalisco, killing a dog, El Universal reported.
