My Parents’ Extreme Tango Makeover

The World

When Yowei Shaw was in college, her parents’ relationship started to change. Maybe it was empty nest syndrome, maybe it was a midlife crisis; but after taking a few dance lessons on board a cruise ship, her parents turned their lives upside down for the tango.
They turned off the Mozart and the History Channel to go out dancing five nights a week in order to perfect their technique. When a hurricane damaged the house, they renovated it and turned the living room into a tango room. Shaw discovers that her father the engineer has the soul of an artist. But she observes that if tango solved some problems, it created others.
