Cuba: Activists arrested after Oswaldo Paya funeral

Dozens of Cuban activists were arrested while attending the funeral of well-known dissident Oswaldo Paya, Agence France Presse reported.
About 50 people were apprehended by plain-clothed police deployed outside the church in the capital Havana, as they chanting slogans against the government following a mass.

Among those held for questioning was activist Guillermo Farinas, known for his hunger strikes that draw attention to the plight of Cuba’s political prisoners.
Authorities say the 60-year-old Paya died on Sunday when the car he was traveling in went off the road and hit a tree in the country’s south-eastern Granma province.
Another dissident, Harold Cepero Escalante, was also killed in the crash, and a further two passengers were injured.

But the Paya family has not accepted the deaths were an accident – with Paya's son, also named Oswaldo, telling the BBC his father's car had been forced off the road by a truck.
It is understood the driver of the vehicle was detained and is still being questioned by police.
