Team USA uniforms made in China (VIDEO)

Ralph Lauren created Team USA's all-American look, minus the all-American label.

Ralph Lauren created Team USA's all-American look for the opening ceremonies of the London Olympics, minus the all-American label.

The Team USA opening ceremonies uniforms will in fact bear the label 'made in China', reported.

While it is understood in the fashion industry that the 'made in America' label has become somewhat of a relic, with most major brands taking their business overseas, many believed that at least team USA would be supporting American made.

Nanette Lepore, another top US designer, told ABC News that she was shocked that not even a belt would be made in the US. "Why shouldn't we have pride not only in the American athletes, but in the American manufacturers and laborers who are the backbone of our country? Why? What's wrong? Why was that not a consideration?"

Even those far off the fashion spectrum are weighing in on the made in China debacle. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that the US Olympic Committee should be ashamed of itself, the Associated Press reported. Reid suggested they toss the uniforms into a big pile and burn them.

In a statement the US Olympic Committee said they remain proud of their partnership with the Ralph Lauren label.

"The U.S. Olympic team is privately funded and we're grateful for the support of our sponsors. We're proud of our partnership with Ralph Lauren, an iconic American company."
