Maria Sharapova’s French Open win hands her career Grand Slam

Maria Sharapova of Russia today won the French Open, a victory that also marked her first career Grand Slam, reported USA Today.
The 25-year-old Russian beat Italy's Sara Errani 6-3, 6-2 in the finals for women's singles in the French Open in Paris today, a win that makes her the 10th woman to finish a career grand slam, said The Guardian. The last was Serena Williams in 2002, according to USA Today.
"If it was my only one it would be just as special as wining my fourth," USA Today quoted Sharapova as saying in Court Philippe Chatrier after the win.

Sharapova's victory comes four years after winning the Australian Open, a triumph that followed wins in 2006 at the US Open and in 2004 at Wimbledon, said The Guardian.
The famed Russian sportswoman had 36 winning shots in today's match, compared with to Errani's nine, said USA Today.
