Xiao Sa is proving that dogs really are man's best friend.

The small stray dog has won the heart of China after he followed a group Chinese bikers across the country, running over 1,000 miles.

The dog ran alongside the group after accepting a chicken leg from a cyclist in Sichuan on May 4. He then then ran alongside the racers for almost 1,139 miles, arriving in Lhasa on the Tibetan plateau on May 23, according to the Huffington Post.

Little Xiao Sa ran more than  37 miles a day, according to the BBC. The route traveled included rough terrain like dirt roads and 12 different mountains. Even as some of the cyclists dropped out of the race due to heavy rains and high altitudes, Xiao Sa stuck with them.

The dog's adventures were posted to a blog called Go Go Xiao Sa, which attracted 37,000 followers in two weeks, according to China Daily.

"We did more than 40 miles uphill and at the end I had to get off and push my bike instead. But the dog ran ahead of me and stopped at a crossroads. She waited for a while, but got bored because I took so long, so ran back, put her paws on my calves, and started licking me. I could see she cared about me," Xiao Yong, a member of the cycling team told the Telegraph.

Now 22-year-old Yong will take the stray pup and give him a well deserved home.
