Miami police have shot dead a naked man as he chewed on the face of another man police believe was homeless.
The incident happened at about 2 p.m. local time on Saturday near Miami's busy Biscayne Boulevard, The Miami Herald reported.
The bizarre scene is being blamed on bad LSD, a hallucinogenic drug better known for feelings of peace and serenity.
According to police sources, an officer saw a naked man eating another man's face on the side on an off-ramp and shouted on his loud speaker for the attacker to back away.
“He was literally eating his face, from the top of his forehead to his jaw is gone. He wasn’t only gnawing at it, he was swallowing bits of his face,” Armando Aguilar of the local chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police told CBS4.
The man refused police orders, which led a police officer to fire one shot. A witness reportedly said as many as six shots were fired.
However, even after being wounded, the man continued his gruesome attack, the Herald reported.

"[Officers] attempted to separate them, there was some sort of confrontation," Miami Police spokesman Willie Moreno told Local10.
Police have requested the surveillance video from the Miami Herald, which is adjacent to where the incident occurred.
CBS reported that the video showed a police officer arriving on the scene and apparently startled by the spectacle of two naked men lying on the street.
It appeared the officer drew his service weapon and shot one of the men, although it was difficult to tell in the video, CBS wrote.
Photographs taken from the Herald's garage reportedly show the naked man lying dead at the scene.
According to CBS Miami, police sources said the victim had "virtually no face" and was unrecognizable.
He was taken to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Police say that there have been several incidents in the last few weeks in which the new strain of LSD was the culprit, mostly involving naked men running in the streets and growling.
"Their body temperature reaches such a high degree that they have to take all their clothes off because they're basically melting from the inside," said Aguilar.
