Egypt: Ahmed Shafiq’s office set on fire

A fire broke out at the campaign headquarters of Egyptian presidential candidate Ahmed Shafiq on Monday, according to the BBC.
Local media broadcast footage of the fire, but no injuries were reported.
News of the fire came hours after the announcement that Shafiq and Islamist candidate Mohammed Morsi would be facing each other in the Egyptian run-off elections next month, said the BBC.

Agence France Presse also reported the blaze, saying the people responsible were unknown.
Reuters said the fire was attributed to Egyptian protesters, according to local media reports.
Shafiq was deposed President Hosni Mubarak's last prime minister, and remains a powerful reminder of Mubarak's rule, said Reuters.
State news agency MENA reported that protesters had broken into the campaign office and vandalized it before the blaze.
The BBC also reported that crowds of protesters were heading towards Tahrir Square, demonstrating against the official election results.
