PayPal in-store payment: 15 more major retailers to offer service (VIDEO)

Paypal has announced that 15 more major US retailers will offer its in-store payments service, which allows customers to buy products via their PayPal accounts, Reuters reported.

The San Jose, Calif.-based online payment company launched its in-store payment service in 2,000 Home Depot stores earlier this year. To make a purchase, customers either enter their cellphone number and PayPal pin number or swipe a PayPal card at a payment terminal.

The stores that are joining Home Depot in offering the service are Toys R Us, JC Penney, Barnes & Noble, Office Depot, American Eagle Outfitters, Abercrombie & Fitch, Rooms To Go, Jos. A. Bank, Aeropostale, Foot Locker, Nine West, Jamba Juice, Guitar Center, TigerDirect and Advance Auto Parts, Reuters reported.

“This is only our first installment. There will be others," Don Kingsborough, the PayPal executive overseeing the offline initiative, told Reuters.

According to ZDNet, PayPal also announced that 300,000 small businesses have signed up for its new PayPal Here payment service, launched in March in the USA, Canada, Hong Kong and Australia. The service enables retailers to accept PayPal payments via smartphone.

PayPal President David Marcus told tech blog AllThingsD that 2012 is about learning and testing, and next year, “it will be about iterating and full-on execution.”
