Anthony Smith, a 4-year-old boy from New Hampshire, refused to wear his hearing aid because none of his favorite super heroes wore them, that is until his met, "The Blue Ear."

Christina D'Allesandro, Smith's mother, said every time she asked him to put on his device known as a "blue ear," little Anthony would put up a fight.

D'Allesandro decided she needed a little help. She emailed Marvel Comics to see if there were any superheroes who might be able to help, the Huffington Post reported.

Marvel Comics initially responded by pointing her to a 1984 comic book cover featuring Hawkeye, a superhero whose hearing was temporarily destroyed by a sonic arrow.

"We wanted to give [Anthony] a concrete example," Marvel editor Bill Rosemann told The Huffington Post in a telephone interview.

However Marvel artists Manny Mederos and Nelson Ribeiro didn't think that was good enough. ComicBookResources.com reported it was then that the duo decided to create a brand new super hero just for Smith. They named him, The Blue Ear, after his hearing device.

Rosemeann said it was D'Allesandro's commitment to helping her child that inspired them to pitch in and help.

“She didn’t know a specific person to write to here at Marvel, and even figured it might get caught in our spam filters, but she sent it in anyway, because that’s the kind of great parent Christina is. And it was her inspiring effort to help her son that touched so many of us here. As a fellow parent of a toddler, I can understand where she’s coming from, so I forwarded the email around the rest of Editorial, asking what we could do to help, and like when Cap yells, ‘Avengers Assemble,’ the gang leapt into action.” Rosemann told ComicBookResources.com.

D'Allesandro and Smith shared more of their story with ABC News.
