LOS ANGELES — Nick Stahl, who played John Connor in "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines," has been missing since May 9, as police search L.A.' skid row for the actor, according to the Los Angeles Times

Stahl's wife, Rose Murphy, filed a missing person's report on Monday, according to KTLA. The couple has been separated since January.

Murphy has required that Stahl, who has been frequenting skid row recently, visit with their daughter Marlo rarely, and take a drug test before spending time with her, KTLA reported. It is suspected that Stahl's involvement in drugs may have a role in his disappearance, ABC News reported

"In general, [this case] is similar to a lot of our adult missing persons cases," LAPD Detective Carmine S. Sasso, who is handling the case, told People Magazine. "Of the 14,000 missing persons cases I've handled over the past four years, there's a very good percentage of those involving drug issues and a separation from families. The vast majority of them have been successfully solved. Hopefully this one will be too."

Some have speculated that there is a "Terminator curse," according to ABC News: Stahl, 32, took over the role of Connor in "Terminator 3" from Edward Furlong, whose own career was sidetracked by drugs after he stared in "Terminator 2: Judgment Day."

Other "Terminator" actors who have run into trouble include Thomas Dekker, who played John Connor in the TV series spinoff "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," was arrested on suspicion of DUI for allegedly hitting a bicyclist after the show wrapped in 2009, and Christian Bale, who went on a four-minute swear-word-filled rant at his director while filming 2009's "Terminator Salvation," ABC News reported.

Stahl, who has also starred in "Sin City" and the TV series "House of Lies," has three films set to be released in 2012, according to his IMDb
