NBC says new lineup is “heavy on comedy”

NEW YORK – Fourth place TV network NBC is going for laughs this fall.
On Sunday, it announced its upcoming season has 10 sitcoms, twice the number of dramas, the Associated Press reported.
"It is heavy on comedy," said Robert Greenblatt, NBC entertainment president. "It was a conscious decision we made … at the beginning of the development season."
The Washington Post reported two new comedies include “Go On,” staring former "Friends" actor Matthew Perry as a sportscaster and “The New Normal” about a same-sex couple having a child.

Reuters reported NBC is canceling legal drama "Harry's Law" – because its audience is too old – "The Firm," "Best Friends Forever," ''Awake," ''Are You There, Chelsea?" and "Bent."
NBC News anchor Brian Williams' "Rock Center," made the cut but will move to Thursday nights at 10 p.m. The high profile show has not garnered high rating or a following as the network had hoped.
Both "Smash" and "The Voice" will return and are among the network's most popular.
Earlier this week, NBC made headlines when it announced that it will only order 13 episodes of "30 Rock" and "Community" leading some to say they were being canceled. However, AP reported, Greenblatt said that wasn't true and they could run another season if ratings improve.
