Tiny Pacific nation of Nuie pleads for Lady Gaga concert
Niue wants pop star Lady Gaga to schedule a concert on their island, promising that all of its 1,600 inhabitants would attend.
The tiny Pacific island nation of Niue is attempting to lure pop star Lady Gaga to its shores for a concert by promising that all of its 1,600 inhabitants would attend.
TVNZ says that the idea came from the Niue Tourism Development Manager Hayden Porter, who has sent a later of invitation to Lady Gaga's record label executives and tour promoters.
Porter reportedly said: "Lady Gaga is crazy enough that she may just go for it."

Niue is about 1,500 miles northeast of New Zealand, where she is due to hold three concerts in June, 3NewsNZ reports.
"It would be great fun if it happened, but of course we are not holding our breath, but it is a genuine invitation," Niue Tourism spokesman Mike Hogan told Radio Australia. "She's terribly popular in the island, particularly with the young people of course."
According to AFP Niue is "desperate for visitors", explaining that the population has dropped from a high of about 5,000 in the mid-1960s with many leaving to find better opportunities, mostly in New Zealand and Australia.
