DC Primary: Romney defeats Santorum, takes another 16 delegates

Mitt Romney has won tonight's Republican primary in the nation's capital, adding another notch to his belt in the final stages of the GOP nominating contest, according to The Hill.
Sixteen at-large delegates in the capital will be awarded to Romney on a winner-take-all basis, according to The New York Times.

According to The Hill, the Santorum campaign had ceded the District of Columbia to the Romney camp in advance.
"We expect Mitt Romney to do well in the D.C. area — no shock there — in fact it might even be unanimous. I don't know that we'll pick up a single vote in D.C. because of the vitriol D.C. has for someone like Rick Santorum who wants to shake things up here in Washington," Santorum spokesman Hogan Gidley was quoted as telling MSNBC early today.
