Murdoch journalists attempt suicide

Two senior reporters from Rupert Murdoch's The Sun daily attempted suicide, three sources told Reuters on Tuesday. The Independent reported that both of the reporters had recently been arrested.
Reuters also reported that Will Lewis, a key member of the unit Murdoch created to cleanup journalistic standards, has hired private security after being accused by News Corporation journalists of creating a climate of fear and paranoia.
The security firm is guarding Lewis's home, according to the news agency.

The suicide attempts come as Murdoch's News International company is the subject of a criminal investigation and a nationwide scandal. So far, 11 journalists from the Sun, Britain's largest tabloid, have been arrested on charges of bribing police and other public officials.
Murdoch's company recently turned 300 million internal emails over to officials investigating the bribery charges, the London Evening Standard reported. As a result, Murdoch's reporters feel as though they have been betrayed by a company that once encouraged those shady journalistic practices, the Independent reported.
"People think that they've been thrown under a bus," a News International employee told Reuters.
The two reporters have been checked into a hospital, with News International paying for the medical expenses, the Financial Times reported.
A source told the London Evening Standard that other Murdoch journalists have also been feeling “terribly stressed and many are on the edge."
