Davy Jones, lead singer with The Monkees, dies aged 66

LONDON – Davy Jones, lead singer with 60s band The Monkees, has died at the age of 66.
His publicist, Deborah Robicheau, said Jones died in his sleep at his home in Florida on Wednesday. He had suffered a massive heart attack, she said, according to the BBC.
The Monkees, a Beatles-inspired American pop band put together in 1966, achieved fame and success with hits like 'Daydream Believer' and 'I’m a Believer'.
Its other members were Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork. The four starred in their own self-titled TV show between 1966 and 1968.
The group split up in 1971, but Jones, Dolenz and Tork reunited last year to play a series of gigs.
Dolenz tweeted: "I am in a state of shock and disbelief right now… My heart and prayers go out to Davy's family." His manager and brother-in-law Joseph Pacheco paid tribute, describing him as an "incredible human being," Sky News reported.
Jones is survived by his wife, Jessica, as well as four daughters from previous marriages, USA Today reported.
