In February of 2009, CNBC financial analyst Rick Santelli launched into a now-famous diatribe on the floor of the  Chicago  Mercantile  Exchange, inviting those who were also infuriated by the Obama administration’s  Homeowners Affordability and Stability Plan  to attend a “Tea Party.” For Mark Meckler, a lawyer from California, and Jenny Beth Martin, a mom in Atlanta –  along with thousands of others across the country –  this was the beginning of a movement. Mark Meckler is co-author of “Tea Party Patriots: The Second American Revolution.”
