Chinese New Year fireworks prove deadly in Thailand

GlobalPost

A Chinese New Year celebration in Thailand was marked by yet another pyrotechnics-gone-wrong fiasco.

According to the Bangkok Post, the fireworks display ended in four deaths, 50 injuries, 30 burned-down homes and temporary hearing loss in one political aide, who was escorting his high-profile politician boss during hosting duties.

This disaster follows an even worse New Year's Eve catastrophe in the Philippines, where fireworks and celebratory gunfire left 200 injured and 14 missing fingers or toes.
