Barack Obama asks Betty White to show birth certificate (video)

In honor of Betty White’s 90th birthday, US President Barack Obama sent a tongue-in-cheek video to the comedian asking her to release a copy of her birth certificate.

“Dear Betty, you look so fantastic and full of energy, I can’t believe you're 90 years old,” Obama wrote. “In fact I don’t believe it. That’s why I’m writing to ask if you will be willing to produce a copy of your long form birth certificate.”

Obama’s video was part of Monday night’s NBC birthday tribute to the popular actress.

“Everybody gives you so much credit for ‘oh you’re turning 90’ and everybody applauds,” White said. “I didn’t do anything, it just happened.”

White’s acting career spans over 70 years, seven Emmy Awards and 20 Emmy nominations. She is perhaps best known for her role as Rose Nylund in the hit-television show Golden Girls.

“I’m the luckiest old broad on two feet for one thing," she said. "It’s just a privilege to be at this age and still be working."
