Southern California man tried to murder wife with Rice Krispies, reports say

A Southern Californian man has allegedly poisoned his wife's Rice Krispies in an attempt to murder her.
Los Angeles County jail records show Fernando Porras, 43, of Azusa was being held on $1 million bail Saturday on suspicion of the attempted murder of his 51-year-old wife, Fernanda, the Associated Press reported.
Azusa paramedics reportedly got a call for a 51-year-old woman who had ingested some kind of chemical.
According to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, citing Azusa police official Cpl. Randy Schmidt, Fernanda Porras had "noticed a horrible smell and taste" when she began eating her cereal. The woman's 17-year-old daughter made the 911 call.
The woman was taken to Foothill Presbyterian Hospital for treatment, police said. While there, the husband's behavior raised officers' suspicions.
Porras allegedly told police he was going outside to smoke a cigarette. He left instead.
The police found Porras two miles away and arrested him for attempted murder, CBS reported.
Police also reportedly said family members heard the man making incriminating statements.
