UK: Prince Philip leaves hospital after heart treatment (VIDEO)

Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II, was discharged from the hospital Tuesday, after receiving treatment for heart problems.

The 90-year-old prince smiled and waved to reporters as he left Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, according to the Telegraph.

Buckingham Palace said Philip was feeling "very cheerful" and looking forward to seeing the rest of the Royal family, whom he will join at the Sandringham country estate in Norfolk.

His health problems caused him to miss the Royal Christmas celebrations, including the traditional pheasant shoot on Dec. 26th, which he was supposed to lead.

Prince Philip spent four nights in the hospital after being admitted with chest pains on Friday. Doctors diagnosed a blocked artery and fitted him with a coronary stent, a small tube that helps hold the artery open and maintain blood flow.

It is not known whether Prince Philip has been advised to make any long-term changes following the heart scare, though it is likely he will have been told to rest.

However, with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee – the 60th anniversary of her coronation – coming up in 2012, the BBC's royal correspondent Nicholas Witchell asks whether the notoriously active prince will be willing to cut down on his many commitments:

"He may be 90 years old but he still regards it as his duty (and his wish) to support his wife in every way he can.

The Queen relies on his presence and his companionship, and any change in his ability to accompany her on her public duties would a significant blow to her."
