After 33 years of authoritarian rule, Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh  signed a deal  to transfer power to his vice president. The deal gives Saleh immunity from  prosecution  and allows him to retain certain powers until an election is held in three months. As home to Al Qaeda in the  Arabian Peninsula  Yemen remains  crucial  to U.S. interests.
