Indian-origin porn star to join India’s Big Brother

Swami Agnivesh is out, Sunny Leone is in.  It must be sweeps week at the Bigg Boss house.

Yep, that's right folks. Pornography may be illegal in India, and local porn actresses (relegated to the web, of course) won't be winning any societal accolades.  But if an Indian gets famous abroad, well, that's a different story.

According to the Hindustan Times, Indian-origin porn star Sunny Leone, best known for her roles in such films as Not Charlie's Angels XXX and The Virginity Hit, is slated to move into the claustrophobic bitchfest of Bigg Boss 5 — India's version of the reality television show Big Brother.

Leone, 30, who has appeared on a number of mainstream reality shows in the US and modelled for various magazines, is landing in India Thursday and will enter the show this week, the HT said.

Maybe it's just me, but I think the producers missed a brilliant opportunity when they let Swami Agnivesh go before bringing on Sunny.  The names alone would have been fun.  Sunny vs. Swami Smackdown, and so forth.  Oh well.  

In any case, Sunny ought to keep porn in the headlines for another couple weeks as India awaits the release of Dirty Picture — a biopic on softcore siren Silk Smitha.
