The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and the former Kate Middleton, wrapped up their 12-day North American visit in Los Angeles, California where they rubbed elbows with celebrities and wrapped their arms around the inner city youth, taking in a full range of life in California.

It was an special visit for the royal newlyweds because the long weekend marked Kate's first trip to the United States and Will's first as a married man.

They were given the royal treatment in more ways than one. The couple focused on British interests in the United States by attending the UK Trade & Investment reception at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Friday July 8, 2011.

On the same day, Kate and Will were given another taste of home when they attended a private reception at the British Consul-General's estate in Los Angeles.

Saturday, July 9, 2011, was the day of Will's charity polo challenge at the Santa Barbara Racquet and Polo Club. Attendees paid $4,000 for a luncheon and then they watched Will score four goals in a polo match, according to USA Today.

The challenge, sponsored by Tiffany & Co., was won by the prince's team. Luckily, Kate was the award presenter because she not only awarded Will with a Tiffany & Co. gift, but also a big kiss on stage.

The celebrations continued for the newlyweds that night when they received the full Hollywood treatment at the 2011 the British Academy of Film and Television Arts "Brits to Watch" event in Los Angeles. There, they mingled with celebrities Tom Hanks, Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Garner and other A-list stars.

Kate and Will spent their last day on their jam-packed, 12-day trip to North America at the Inner City Arts center in Los Angeles where they painted pictures with the students and memorialized the day by imprinting their hands into clay during a ceramics class. The royal couple also helped at Mission Serve, a program that aids military families and children.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge headed back to Britain where they went to their home in Wales for some private rest and relaxation after a very busy and very public trip across the pond.
