Beyond .com: Prepare for new (possibly confusing) domain names

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the global nonprofit in charge internet domain names, said that it will begin taking applications for new, top-level domain names in January. It will be expensive, though. Mariko Oi, business reporter for the BBC, said it will cost $185,000 just to apply. ICANN expects the new domain names to go online in December of next year.
