Brazil beats South Africa in World Cup delays

FIFA president Joseph Blatter told reporters that Brazil is further behind in its World Cup preparations than 2010 host South Africa was at the same point in time. He said, "I would like to tell my Brazilian colleagues about the 2014 World Cup, it's tomorrow. The Brazilians think it’s just the day after tomorrow." Delays have been reported in airport, stadium and other construction projects. Reuters says the slow pace stems partly from the fact that the government must put up more money than initially planned because of shortfalls in private investment. Apparently part of the problem is that Brazil “has yet to create guarantees and make regulatory changes that would attract more private capital.”
