Pope urges Britain to resist secularism

Pope Benedict has said he wants to �extend the hand of friendship� to the whole of the UK during his visit. He also urged the British to resist �more aggressive forms of secularism� after being welcomed by Queen Elizabeth II in Edinburgh. Tens of thousands of people attended an open-air Mass in Glasgow, while Protestants, secularists, and other groups had planned protests against Vatican policies on birth control, gay rights and abortion, although police did not report any large demonstrations.
