The national economy hasn’t fared well since the last time the Federal Open Market Committee met in late June, so it’s unclear how the Fed’s top policy makers aim to boost growth and still keep short term interest rates close to zero. In a meeting later today, these policy makers will discuss monetary policy and strategic goals. Economics editor for WNYC and The Takeaway, Charlie Herman, previews the meeting.
