Qom is known for its mosques and shrines, so the Computer Research Center of Islamic Sciences seems a bit out of place here. Dozens of students and teachers file in for an afternoon session. What and how they're studying is the result of years of labor. This man is the head of IT at the center and is involved in what could be the Muslim world's largest data conversion effort. He says at first traditionalists were skeptical of the technology but were eventually won over by its advantages. Research is now possible in a matter of minutes.
