Iraqi cleric against pact

Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr isn't happy with plans to keep US troops in Iraq for a few more years. Sadr is urging Iraq's parliament to reject those plans. He's also threatening to reignite armed resistance to the US military presence in Iraq.

Iraq's government governs Anbar Province

The U.S. military transferred security control of Iraq's Anbar province to the Iraqi government in a ceremony today. Anbar province was once the center of the Sunni insurgency against the Americans after Saddam Hussein was toppled in 2003.

President Obama says American troops will be home from Iraq by the end of the year but the connections between Iraq and the US are far from over. The next phase of American involvement will be business ties.
