The 11-day war between Israel and Hamas featured the same waves of predawn Israeli airstrikes, the same continuous rocket fire out of the impoverished Gaza Strip, and the same lopsided casualty toll, with Palestinians making up the vast majority of the more than 250 killed. And like past wars between Israel and Hamas, it took a heavy toll on children.

The blockade on Gaza hampers life and reconstruction

Israel and Egypt have imposed a blockade on the Gaza Strip since 2007. Israel says it’s for security reasons but the UN has called it “collective punishment.” Now that the fighting has stopped, reconstruction in Gaza will be painfully slow.

Israel launches deadly airstrikes on Gaza following rocket attacks by Hamas

Top of The World: At least 24 Palestinians, including nine children, were killed overnight and 122 others were wounded in Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip in a new round of escalating tensions. And, the COVID-19 variant first identified in India has been designated a global concern by the World Health Organization. Also, the FDA has expanded the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 jab to children as young as 12.
