And, nearly a year after suffering one of the worst outbreaks of the coronavirus infections in Europe, the government in Italy is again considering new “red zone” lockdown restrictions. Also Senegal has been engulfed in deadly protests over the past week over government corruption and a crackdown on political opposition.

Top of The World: It was a deadly day for protesters in Myanmar on Sunday after security forces opened fire on demonstrations, killing at least 18 people. And, former French President Nicolas Sarkozy was found guilty of corruption and influence peddling in court on Monday. Also, Iran on Sunday ruled out holding an informal meeting with the US and European powers to revive the nuclear deal.

And, the Oxford-AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine may reduce the spread of the virus by two-thirds and prevent severe disease. Also, a devastating wildfire in Australia has torched more than 70 homes near the country’s western city of Perth.

Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny demanded his release on Tuesday as he faced a court hearing in Moscow in a case that could send him to prison for up to 3 ½ years. And, US President Joe Biden condemned the military’s takeover of Myanmar.
