In this coastal community, Brazilian shell fisherwomen, or “marisqueiras,” harvest mollusks, sand crabs, brown crabs and other shellfish from mangrove swamps for a living. But with the expansion of a nearby industrial complex and port, they’re not sure how much longer they’ll have work.
