Tania Karas is a reporter and editor for Global Nation, the immigration desk of PRI's The World. She covers global migration and refugees. Originally from Chicago, Tania was a 2015-16 US Fulbright Fellow in Greece covering Europe’s refugee crisis at a time of financial crisis. She has also lived in Turkey and Lebanon. Prior to moving abroad at the end of 2014, Tania was a staff reporter for the New York Law Journal, a daily newspaper covering US immigration, legal education and access to justice. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism and is a master’s candidate in International Human Rights Law at the University of Oxford, slated to graduate in 2019.

Here's why the US census citizenship question stokes mistrust

The question would have required respondents to answer whether they and everyone in their household is a US citizen. The ruling has been appealed. There’s a small chance it could still end up on the census if the Trump administration can convince the Supreme Court to step in on its behalf. That would all need to happen by the June deadline for finalizing questions so the questionnaires can go to print.
