Becky is an education reporter for WBEZ.Prior to joining WBEZ in 2012, Becky was an education reporter for the Chicago News Cooperative, where she mostly covered Chicago Public Schools. Before that, she worked at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel as an education and general assignment reporter. Becky's work has appeared in The New York Times and USA Today. She's contributed radio reports to Marketplace, NPR's Morning Edition and All Things Considered. Becky received the 2013 Daniel Schorr Journalism Prize from WBUR and Boston University for her coverage of Chicago's historic school closings.She was a part of the reporting team that won a 1st place 2012 PRNDI (Public Radio News Directors Inc.) Award in “Breaking News” for coverage of the Chicago Teachers’ Strike. Becky also received an award from the Education Writers Association in 2010 for contributing work to an eight-week series on teacher quality in Wisconsin for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. She tweets from @beckyvevea and @WBEZeducation
