Where do they go?

The vast majority of the 4 million who have crossed the border — some 93 percent — have settled, if you can call it that, in some of Syria's neighboring countries: Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Egypt. Some have found places to stay with friends or family. Most live in either official refugee camps, or unofficial ones. Many more live on the streets. Many of them live in desperate poverty.
