The Maya train is a $9.8 billion infrastructure project that would connect Mexico’s archaeological sites on the Yucatán Peninsula. A judge has now halted construction pending an environmental review along a stretch of the proposed railroad that’s been rerouted to run through an area of jungle that is rich in ancient underground caves.
