At UN, Biden convenes COVID summit with lofty ambitions

The White House held a COVID-19 summit at the UN today, aimed at turning a corner in the pandemic. Goals include vaccinating 70% of the world's population by this time next year, scaling up global manufacturing, and investing in global pandemic preparedness. But despite big pledges, vaccine distribution has been slow around the world. Many communities face shortages in oxygen and other essential supplies.
