Hurricane Ida slammed into the southern coast of Louisiana last night, bringing with it catastrophic winds and rain. Now, nearly half of the state is without electricity, and rescue efforts are underway in southern Louisiana and Mississippi. There have been 11 named storms in the Atlantic Ocean so far this year, with three months still left in hurricane season.
